- Move the "SCMAnywhere" SQL server database along with the SCM Anywhere Server application.
- Migrate the SCM Anywhere Server application to another machine without moving the "SCMAnywhere" database.
In scenario 1, you may follow the steps below:
- Back up your current "SCMAnywhere" database. more details
- Back up "SCMSService.exe.config" file in the installation folder of SCM Anywhere Standalone Server to keep your server settings.
- Copy the database backup to the SQL Server of
the new machine. Name the database as "SCMAnywhere".
- Install SCM Anywhere Standalone Server on the
new machine.
During the installation, please connect to the SQL Server where your new "SCMAnywhere" database resides.

After successfully connecting to SQL Server, a dialog box pops up, asking you whether to make SCM Anywhere Standalone Server use the existing "SCMAnywhere" database. Please click "Yes" in the following dialog.

- Uninstall SCM Anywhere Standalone Server on the old server machine.
In scenario 2, you may follow the steps below:
- Back up your current "SCMAnywhere" database.
- Back up "SCMSService.exe.config" file in the installation folder of SCM Anywhere Standalone Server to keep your server settings.
- Install SCM Anywhere Standalone Server on the
new machine.
During the installation, please connect to the SQL Server where your current "SCMAnywhere" database resides.
After successfully connecting to SQL Server, a dialog box pops up, asking you whether to make SCM Anywhere Standalone Server use the current "SCMAnywhere" database. Please click "Yes" in the following dialog.
