Why the Start Service and Stop Service buttons are grayed out?

Symptoms

When you open SCM Anywhere Standalone Service Configurator on Windows Vista/7/2008, you may find the Start Service and Stop Service buttons are grayed out.

Also, if you try to make any changes in Service Configurator and close it, you may get the following error message:

"Failed to save changes. Access is denied. "<path>\scmsconfigure.ini".

Cause

You don't have proper permission to start/stop SCM Anywhere Standalone service and change the server configurations.

Resolution

Please right-click SCM Anywhere Standalone Service Configurator and click Run as administrator to launch Service Configurator and then make changes.
