Why can't I start the SCM Anywhere Standalone 2.0 service on a 64-bit machine?

Symptoms

You may get the following error when trying to start SCM Anywhere Standalone 2.0 Service on a 64-bit machine. And you can't open the log file.

 

Cause

SCM Anywhere Standalone Server 2.0 doesn't support 64-bit OS.

SCM Anywhere Standalone Server and Client are supported by 64-bit Windows since version 2.1.

Resolution

Please install SCM Anywhere Standalone Server 2.0 on a 32-bit Windows machine and try starting the service again.

Or, you can upgrade your SCM Anywhere server and client applications to version 2.1 or above. Please look at this article for the upgrade instructions:
