Why can't I download Dynamic Web TWAIN onto the client machine?

Symptom:

When you access the TWAIN related web page, you may find there is a red "X" on the scan page.

Cause:

Dynamic Web TWAIN (DWT) is not downloaded and installed on the client side successfully.

Resolution:

1. Check the security settings of IE on the client machine and verify the following security settings of IE to "Prompt" or "Enabled":

1) Download signed ActiveX controls
2) Run ActiveX Controls and plug-ins
3) Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting

The dialog box of the security setting can be launched from menu Tools>Internet Options. Then select the security tab.

2. Make sure the code of the <object> tag for DWT is correct.

1) Make sure the class ID and the version of CAB file are matched.

If you are using the Trial version of DWT, you need to use the CAB file from the installation package of Trial version and the class ID in the <object> tag for DWT should be FFC6F181-A5CF-4ec4-A441-093D7134FBF2

If you are using the Full version of DWT, you need to use the CAB file from the installation package of Full version and the class ID in the <object> tag for DWT should be E7DA7F8D-27AB-4EE9-8FC0-3FEC9ECFE758

2) Make sure the value of CodeBase is correct. For example, If CodeBase = "DynamicWebTWAIN.cab#version=5,1", you should place the CAB file of 5.1 version in the same directory with the scan page on your web server.

If you are using a Friendly URL, please place the CAB file at the root directory on your web server and then modify the value of CodeBase to CodeBase = "/DynamicWebTWAIN.cab#version=5,1".

Note: Please pay more attention to the value of this parameter if you are using a case sensitive server such as Tomcat.

3. The DynamicWebTWAIN.cab file may be invalid. If you are not sure if your CAB file is invalid, please send the DynamicWebTWAIN.cab file to twainsupport@dynamsoft.com and we will check it for you.
